This show was recorded in black and white by Broadside Television/Channel 8 and titled “Johnny Cash At The A.P. Carter Store”. The occasion is the Grand Opening of the Carter Barn [Fold]. The possessions of Broadside Television were at some point transferred to the Appalachian Archives at East Tennessee University where the reels are now stored.
The recording is longer than the songs listed, but due to significant sound problems the songs following 22 cannot be identified. 22 ends Cash’s regular set and the Carter sisters take over, followed by an ending where Cash, Joe Carter, Janette Carter, the Carter sisters and Sara and Maybelle Carter sing together on stage.
1-15 are sourced from reel #1 of 2 with reel #2 including 16 to end. The tape dubbed from reel #2 suffers from a synchronizing error which results in major picture and sound problems where 16-22 suffers from frequent sound drops (occurs every three or four seconds) after which the sound disappears entirely.
