August 31, 1957 · Compton, CA · Town Hall Party

On August 31st they were scheduled to be on both Town Hall Party (in Compton, California) and at the Dream Bowl (in Napa, California). Both shows were broadcast live from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Town Hall Party) and 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Dream Bowl). Given that there is a 7-10 hour drive, depending on what metrics you use, between the two locations, it is assumed that they did not appear at the Napa, California date. As evidence, per Colin Escott, John would later meet Don Law at the Collins' house after an appearance on Town Hall Party in August of 1957.

Also of note, contemporary articles cite an "August 13th" meeting date, obviously mixing up the 31st and 13th, given that Town Hall Party only ran shows on Saturdays.

The majority of the set list is not known. In the late 80s or early 90s two songs from the show appeared on a bootleg single. Its origin remains unknown.
