Bootleg Vol II - From Memphis To Hollywood

With their second volume in the newly founded Johnny Cash "Bootleg" series, Columbia and producer Gregg Geller seem to have taken a certain liberty with the 'bootleg' concept. None of the tracks found here have ever been released on any bootleg album, rather the majority of the tracks are lifted straight off earlier Columbia releases - some remain in print. So collectors are warned not to take the cover ad "57 previously unreleased and incredibly hard-to-find demos, singles and radio recordings too seriously, and no, "Bootleg Vol. 2 - From Memphis To Hollywood" does not contain "16 never issued recordings" - only fourteen recordings are released here for the first time. Sadly, what could have been a major release suffers from careless research and ends up being only moderately interesting to collectors and general fans alike.
