"Believe in Him" was originally supposed to be released on a Columbia sub-label as "Gospel Singer" (at concerts in 1983 Cash often performed songs like My Children Walk in Truth and Old Rugged Cross telling the audience that they were going to be released on his forthcoming "Gospel Singer album"). "Gospel Singer" never appeared but rather tured into "Believe in Him" and on Word Records. Perhaps Columbia lost their faith in the project and refused to released it?
Reissue history of "Believe in Him":
1. Released on CD by Columbia/Legacy in 2012 on "Bootleg 4: The Soul of Truth", along with several outtakes from the "Gospel Singer" sessions.
