Context
The August 1 and 2 1974 sessions were done for the soundtrack of the ABC TV special Johnny Cash Ridin The Rails The Great American Train Story a musical history of railroading aired on November 22, 1974. Additional instruments, brass and stnngs were overdubbed on October 28 29 1974. Dyann Rivkin said that because this special spanned the histoncal period from 1830 to the present, as part of the production and sound design of the special, no instruments were used on the soundtrack before they were historically in use, for example, only acoustic instruments were used in the soundtrack covering the earlier years of the special This is also witnessed by the use of an upright bass by Marshall Grant. The House of Cash also listed FIL-AH-ME-OREE-AY (DADDY WORKS ON THE RAILWAY) and THESE ARE MY PEOPLE as being part of this project but no mention is made of these titles in the information furnished by Dyann Rivkin to John L. Smith.
