What’s New in Johnny Cash Infocenter - May 2026

A monthly archive update from the Johnny Cash Infocenter, highlighting new additions, corrections, source material, discography work, and behind-the-scenes improvements from May 2026.

In May 2026, the Johnny Cash Infocenter continued expanding and refining the archive with new additions, corrections, source material, discography work, and behind-the-scenes improvements.

This monthly update highlights selected work from across the archive. A full chronological overview of recent changes remains available through Latest Updates.

Highlights this month

Recording links added to release pages

We continued connecting release tracks to their underlying studio recordings and sessions, making it easier to move from a release page to the recording history behind a track. This remains ongoing work, especially for singles, EPs and legacy release entries that require careful review. A redesign for the discography section is planned also. See Releases.

New Performers section

The website now includes a dedicated Performers section. This new area highlights the artists, groups, family members, and collaborators documented in Johnny Cash live show setlists, including June Carter, Carl Perkins, The Statler Brothers, Mother Maybelle Carter, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and others.

Each performer page shows which songs they performed in documented Johnny Cash live shows and where those appearances took place. It adds a new way to explore the live archive: not only by date, venue, or location, but also by the people who shared the stage with Cash.

This section is still a work in progress and will continue to grow as we keep adding setlists, performer credits, and documented live show details to the archive. See Other Performers.

Songs archive expanded and reorganized

The Songs section has been expanded into a clearer archive hub, with separate paths for Johnny Cash Songs and Songs by Other Performers. Johnny Cash Songs can now include songs documented through recordings, releases, and live performances, including live-only songs where documented. Song detail pages can now include an “About this song” section for added context, and live-history tables now show the documented performer(s), making it easier to see whether a song was performed by Johnny Cash, a featured artist, or as part of a shared performance. Live show setlists can now also display item-level track notes, allowing specific performance details to appear directly under the relevant setlist entry. The update improves the Songs landing page, song navigation, performer visibility, and the way song-level context can grow as the setlist data continues to be expanded. See Songs.

Improved archive search

The archive search has been upgraded to make it easier to find material across the website. Search now covers songs, featured performers, releases, live shows, studio recordings, articles, on screen entries, topics, and awards, with clearer result categories and better “best match” ranking.

Live show content indicators

We improved the live show archive’s content indicators by separating documented audio/video recordings from actual listen/watch links. This makes it clearer when a show is known to have been recorded, even if no public audio or video link is available. See Live Shows.
